TUV SUD's Medical Device Testing Lab located in New Brighton MN, specializes in medical device and packaging testing, offering a comprehensive, one-stop solution for manufacturers. Our lab consists of four specialized disciplines-Biocompatibility, Chemistry, Microbiology, and Packaging-ensuring excellence in medical device evaluation. It is a part of a greater global network of Medical Device testing labs.

Position Summary:

TUV SUD is seeking a Chemist specializing in Chemical Characterization (Extractable & Leachable) to support its medical device testing laboratory. The Chemist will focus on GC-MS analysis in a fast-paced environment, evaluating medical devices according to ISO 10993 under accreditation requirements of ISO 17025, GLP/GMP, and other applicable guidelines. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in extractable and leachable testing, as well as expertise in client service, project management, and quality systems.

Responsibilities:

Routinely perform advanced analytical analyses related to chemical characterization including sample analysis, method development, method validation, and feasibility assessments for various GC techniques including but not limited to headspace, FID, MSD projects.

Operate and maintain GC-MS systems (and potentially other instruments), including instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.

Perform sample manipulations as needed (solid/liquid, liquid/liquid extraction, concentration)

Assist with other instrument techniques such as LCMS, ICP-MS, TOC, FTIR, etc.

Assist with the execution of equipment installation, qualifications, and validations.

Operate within the laboratory quality, compliance, and support systems including SOP, study plan, and test report writing and review.

Collaborate and communicate with cross-functional teams and clients to ensure clients' needs are met

Contribute to continual lab improvements including new method development and improvement of existing methods

Your qualifications

Minimum BS/BA in chemistry or related field with at least 2+ years of relevant experience with GC-MS. MS/PhD 1+ years relevant experience

Strong working knowledge of industry regulations (ISO 10993 series of standards, ISO 17025, ISO 13485, and GLPs)

Ability to organize and track multiple projects in a detail-oriented manner

Ability to work and be effective with minimal supervision

Ability to prioritize and execute daily project tasks

Strong organizational skills required

Exhibit excellent written and oral communication skills and be a proactive, collaborative team player

Self-starter with a positive and motivated attitude
