Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) is currently looking for an Energy Storage Test Engineer within our Commercial Vehicle Development Team at our Chino, California facility: Responsibilities:
- Execute charging/refueling tests to assess the performance of software and hardware components at the vehicle level using public or private infrastructure.
- Analyze test data, compare to charging standards and expected performance.
- Perform refueling/recharging infrastructure site performance evaluation (interoperability, communication vehicle-infrastructure, refueling/recharging rates) and site inspections. Monitor and maintain state and nationwide infrastructure performance metrics
- Research infrastructure performance issues root cause, identify and recommend corrective actions.
- Develop and maintain testing standards, procedures, and specifications; ensure proper documentation and communication of test results.
- Participate in industry refueling/recharging standard development for commercial vehicles (H70HF, MCS...).
- Research safety standards for compressed gas storage systems and high voltage batteries in field and workshop environments.
- Collaborate with universities, national labs, and external research bodies on advanced technology projects, including hydrogen refueling infrastructure and hydrogen storage systems.
- Write reports and present to company leadership about energy storage systems and refueling infrastructure technical roadmaps, including analysis approach, test results, from internal and external sources.
Required Skills and Knowledge:
- Deep understanding of electrochemical science, fuel cell and electrolyzer technologies, hydrogen production and storage, energy conversion systems, and relevant safety standards.
- Excellent understanding of electrified powertrain concepts (motor, inverter, gearbox, and battery systems),
- Experience with 350 and 700 bar hydrogen storage systems (pressure vessels, valves, tubing & controls)
- Experience with high (800V)) voltage components and systems for electric vehicles
- Proficiency in planning, executing, and monitoring projects
- Excellent written communication and presentation skills
- Experience presenting research findings at conferences and forums
- Flexibility in handling multiple projects and changing priorities
- Proficient with Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams

Compensation $90,000~$140,000 Basic Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- 3 to 5 of experience with electrified vehicles, preferably with MD/HD zero emission powertrains.
- Excellent understanding of electrified powertrain concepts (motor, inverter, gearbox, and battery systems),
- Experience with 350 and 700 bar hydrogen storage systems (pressure vessels, valves, tubing & controls)
- Experience with high (800V)) voltage components and systems for electric vehicles
- Valid Driver's License, CDL a plus and satisfactory driving record
