POSITION SUMMARY
Supervises Communication resources to build, maintain and support Hoosier Energy’s Transmission,Sub-Transmission, Distribution, MW Facilities, and Member Systems in a safe and efficient manner. Maintains and supports NERC compliance as related to Communications. Maintains Communication supporting software applications essential to operations. Oversees training and development of field technicians by providing leadership and guidance. Participates in Team discussions and provides input for business decisions.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitors and assures safe work practices are recognized and implemented.
- Coordinates with other departments to develop work schedules for corrective maintenance and preventative maintenance, as well as provide input to long range work plans of Reliability and Asset Management and Project Management Office to maximize efficiency of field resources.
- Coordinates preparations for upcoming work to ensure successful completion, including assistance from other crafts, requesting material, and submitting request for equipment outages.
- Monitors work in progress and provides feedback in order to maintain schedules.
- Reviews work upon completion to ensure documentation and housekeeping requirements are met.
- Acquires and maintains proficiency as lead with Maximo computerized maintenance management software, ensuring input of data, asset information, and utilizing information to make business decisions. Provide Maximo field support and training to technicians.
- Develops and maintains KPI and other performance reports to assist with monitoring and improving department efficiency.
- Ensures that compliance tasks are completed and documented in a timely manner. Includes NERC compliance specific to Communications, as well other agencies such as: FAA and FCC.
- Maintains supporting software specific to Communications Including: Network Management System (TSM) & Tower light controls.
- Assists with building RTU databases, performing database checkout with field technicians, coordinatong rollouts from development environment to production, and in configuring communication channels between field devices and SCADA as needed.
- Oversees training and development of field technicians.
- Provides information to technicians in order to keep them informed of company policy, processes, work requirements and other factors that impact work requirements and environment.
- Provides leadership, coaching and counseling to field technicians regarding job performance.
- Shares in after-hour call responsibility.
- Acquires equipment knowledge to better understand the needs of field technicians.
- Analyzes and resolves work problems and grievances to create a productive and positive work climate.
- Coordinates equipment calibrations as needed.
- Assists with the coordination of maintenance, capital projects, field technicians and other duties of Manager.
- Serves as backup to Meter Relay Coordinator.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent preferred.
- Other levels of experience may be considered.
Experience:
- Five years’ minimum Electrical Utility experience in Communications or related field.
Skills and Abilities:
- Written and oral communication skills.
- Problem solving and decision making abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects with varying scopes and timelines.
- Ability to communicate with individuals at all levels and work as part of a team.
- Demonstrated level of professionalism, positive attitude and ability to motivate others.
