Scotty's Contracting and Stone is accepting applications for a Paving Estimator/Project Manager. The successful candidate for this role will have an uncompromising focus on safety excellence and seeking a long-term career opportunity!

RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Studying documentation, meeting with clients, and inspecting the construction site to fully understand what work is required.

* Outlining the work plan to gauge how much time will be needed to complete each development.

* Accounting for the use of our resources, plus a reasonable profit margin to calculate an overarching price.

* Drafting proposals that detail envisaged materials, costs, and time frames.

* Identifying labor and material needs for each job

* Preparing proposals, construction plans, cost factors and other related documents

* Meeting and consulting with clients, sub contractors, and other job related personnel

* Negotiating contracts as necessary.

* Working with internal and external personnel on the development of project plans, safety plans, resource plans, etc.

* Interfacing with local officials, inspectors, and other state transportation cabinet personnel

* Soliciting proposals from various subcontractors and assisting in managing them through all phases of the project.

* Following project start-up and close-out procedures ensuring all regulatory requirements are met, documents are submitted and the project meets all applicable standards.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

* Positive customer service-oriented attitude.

* Bachelor degree or equivalent technical training/work experience

* Previous experience/knowledge of asphalt paving preferred

* Strong interpersonal and communication skills

* Ability to take initiative and work independently

* Strong math skills including basic arithmetic, algebra and geometry.

* Knowledge of Microsoft Office products with a focus on Microsoft Word and Excel.

* Strong typing skills.

* Knowledge of building code.

* Ability to read and navigate plans and specifications.

* Outstanding research and proposal writing skills.

* Ability to negotiate with seasoned sales personnel.

* Dependable, conscientious, and well-spoken.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

* Work Environment: Able to work both indoors & outdoors, with exposure to uneven terrain, dust, dirt, and varying weather conditions including extreme heat, cold, and rain. Also able to sit at desk for extended periods of time.

* Proximity Hazards: Must be alert and able to work safely near heavy mobile equipment.

* Balance: Including standing and walking on extremely slick and uneven surfaces.

* Vision: 20/40 corrected vision to see moving safety hazards, moving equipment, vehicles, and obstructions.

* Hearing: Corrected to hear verbal safety warnings and instructions.

* Heavy lifting: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
