This role will be dedicated to the Autonomous & Connected Vehicles practice, a premier industry group shaping the emerging mobility landscape.
Some Key Areas of Responsibility
- Monitoring, summarizing and reporting on introduced legislation and Congressional and agency hearings
- Researching policy matters
- Preparing summaries, presentations and reports involving policy projects
- Provide administrative support, where needed
- Identify ways to improve our analyst processes, communications, tracking frameworks, and results
Requirements
- Candidates must complete a bachelor's degree program prior to joining the firm, and should include a cover letter and undergraduate transcripts with submissions
- Willing to work within Venable's hybrid work environment which requires 3 designated team days in our DC office
- Willing to work overtime and/or hours beyond the standard workday, whenever needed, to meet deadlines
- Strong writing, research, and communication skills, as well as a record of academic success
- One year or more of post-undergraduate congressional experience is strongly preferred
- A demonstrated interest in emerging technology areas, including autonomous vehicle technology development and regulation is a plus, but not required
Our Autonomous & Connected Vehicles team works closely with manufacturers, suppliers, and technology providers to navigate the legal and public policy questions associated with the emerging mobility landscape. Our work includes supporting a leading coalition of companies to advance federal and state policy priorities related to fully automated vehicles, and providing legal counsel in such areas as automobile recalls, vehicle and infrastructure electrification, robotics and advanced manufacturing, and privacy and cybersecurity. Our lawyers engage with the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) and its related agencies, state lawmaking bodies and public officials, as well as the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), state attorneys general, and other relevant agencies.
The anticipated base salary for this position is $55,000 to $65,000 year. The actual salary offered will be based on a number of job related factors including, but not limited to, years of related experience, level of education, skills, credentials and certifications, responsibilities and performance.
