POSITION SUMMARY: The Dispatcher is responsible for the daily dispatching and planning for the LNA private fleet and third-party carriers. RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS: Safety and Compliance:
- Ensures that the company fleet operates within all Department of Transportation (DOT) and company guidelines.
- Present a commitment to quality, service and safety, while always upholding Lhoist core values.
Load Planning and Scheduling:
- Performs dispatching activities, including daily load planning and scheduling for the private fleet and third-party carriers.
- Works with the Fleet Manager regarding driver availability, drivers' hours of service, and equipment availability.
- Data entry for customer order creation and intracompany orders.
- Works with the supply chain & logistics manager on sourcing and product distribution
Customer Service:
- Interacts with internal and external customers, along with third party carriers.
- Proactively settles issues before they impact the customer by using logical and creative problem solving.
- Confirms orders for the following day by calling and/or emailing customers.
- Involved in total quality process and continuous improvement of customer confidence by knowing the customer's demands for sizing, quality, and quantity in relationship to inventory.
- Must show a customer centric mentality, with a spirit of service approach on a daily basis.
Other duties as assigned. ATTRIBUTES:
- Working knowledge of DOT regulations, OSHA requirements, and fleet equipment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
- Current computer skills in Microsoft applications, SAP, and search engine online programs.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Behavioral competencies include tolerance for stress, practical learning, adaptability, multi-tasking, teamwork, planning, and organizing.
- Extremely dependable; the time sensitive nature of this position requires excellent attendance and complete customer focus.
- Ability to work Monday - Thursday 7pm - 6am
- Able to be on call after hours (occasional evenings and 1 -2 weekends per month)
