We are looking for aOperator IIto make repairs and perform preventive maintenance to ensure the optimum operating efficiency of equipment in the Mining Department and Plant facility.

Reporting to theSuperintendent Owens Lakeand working in a challenging and exciting environment, you will be:

  • Operate all equipment on site; including 4yd front end loaders, Integrated tool carrier (IT 62G), 10 wheel trucks water and dump, motor grader CAT 140G, 1.5 yd excavator, dozers to CAT D-6R LGP, and miscellaneous pumps.
  • Do mine planning, panel development, road construction and maintenance, mining, sampling and sample preparation
  • Operate laboratory including purchasing operating supplies
  • Maintain, trouble shoot, and repair all mining equipment using fuel truck, service truck with hoist, cutting and welding, shop and field tools, including purchasing supplies.
  • Do minor construction as necessary (shop, plumbing and concrete)
  • Provide task training including evaluating new tasks and writing procedures
  • Keep operation MSHA compliant and maintain zero accidents
  • Participate in all types of training including safety, MSHA, task and environmental
  • Manage daily mine operations including EMS compliance

Initial training & continual training

  • MSHA (Federal Mine Safety and Health Act - Section 115)(30CFR subpart Q) 24 hour initial training (Surface mining)
  • RCRA (40 CFR 265.16)(22CCR 66265.16)
  • Training in emergency Response Procedures and Equipment, Communication Systems Affecting Hazardous Waste Management
  • MSHA: Annual 8 hour Refresher Training - MSHA Regulations
  • RCRA: Annual review of Initial Training - Hazardous Waste Management and Emergency Response Procedures

What you'll bring

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team.
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
  • Must have 2+ years' experience in automotive and diesel repair.
  • Familiar with automotive hand tools and have working experience in mechanical and electrical repairs.
  • Accepted standards for skilled craft work to qualify for Mechanic Level C.
  • Ability to read, write, perform basic math, and follow electrical schematics and hydraulic prints.
  • knowledge of hydraulic, mechanical, electrical systems and understanding of electrical safety hazards.
  • Skills and knowledge for diagnosing, disassembling, repairing, reassembling, lubricating, and fueling mobile equipment.
