GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION: Responsible for the specials engineering - design and detailing of special HRC products for customer orders. HRC products are production tools outside the standard Husky product portfolio supporting Husky's growth strategies and are typically new products in launch infancy, or experimental product to test new/different market for Husky. This position functionally resides between HRC Production Engineering, and Product Development. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY: *Work with Customers, Sales Support, Business Development and Product Development to convert product definition into hot runner concept and detailed design with limited to no guidance *Critical assessment of concept, providing input, suggesting solutions *Follow established design rules and practices, use engineering tools and sound judgment to make decisions where no rules or standard practices exist *Project communication throughout the various phases is vital including project kick-off presentations, schedules, design reviews, development updates, risk assessment reports and design rationale documentation *Demonstrate and maintain required quality, efficiency and on-time requirements *Initiate and review engineering analysis during the design process. i.e. Stress, Thermal, Flow *Work with manufacturing to help resolve production issues *Maintain thorough job file documentation TECHNICAL/PROFESSIONAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: *Experienced CAD user (Unigraphics preferred) *Solution oriented, open minded, creative *Strong background and knowledge in mechanical design *Experience in hot runner design (or similar) preferably in new product development a plus *Confident, self-starter with good communication skills, both written and oral *Able to organize and manage design work on multiple active projects simultaneously *Strong sense of project ownership and in meeting established commitments *Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook *Fluent in English *Ability to travel globally (limited) QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION *University engineering degree or equivalent experience RELATED EXPERIENCE *5 years of hot runner design execution experience |
