THE POSITION

The Northumberland County Children & Youth Services is eager to welcome a County Casework Manager 2 to our dedicated team of professionals. Our staff perform a variety of social service and casework duties designed to provide supportive services to children, youth, and families. We work in close cooperation with other social service agencies, hospitals, mental health facilities, police, Courts, schools, and other community resources in assisting the families. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This is a professional social service position in a County Children and Youth Agency that is responsible for the supervision and evaluation of the workers in their unit. You will perform primary supervisory tasks within the Children and Youth Services Program. This includes completing related work as required and organizing and administering activities of Northumberland County Children and Youth Services. The incumbent maintains overall control of staff as well as community organizational responsibilities in terms of assessing community needs and resources, and the coordination of children and youth activities with other programs and agencies. A thorough knowledge of applicable federal and state laws as they pertain to the welfare of children and youth within Northumberland County must be maintained.

Other duties include preparing annual service plans and budget estimates, representing our agency at regional and statewide meetings, preparing and directing the compilation of reports and correspondence, and overseeing the maintenance of files and records. You will also conduct and facilitate regular meetings, train staff, and evaluate ongoing staff training needs and programs. Additionally, you will act as staff assistant to the children and youth advisory board and make recommendations to Northumberland County commissioners on agency related matters. Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Four years of experience in public or private social work including two years in a public welfare program, two of which must have been in a supervisory capacity; and a bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences.

Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
