Cutting Machine Operator

Description

Primary Duties:



  1. Unrolls and spreads fabric in layers on tables
  2. Arrange patterns on fabric and mark outlines of patterns
  3. Sets and operates cutting machines
  4. Labels and ties bundles of parts
  5. Drills holes through layers of fabric or cuts notches in edges
  6. Operates automatic machines that use computerized patterns
  7. Cuts fabric using an electric hand cutter
  8. May mark and cut cloth, and fabric into pieces to be used in trimming
  9. Perform quality checks of parts after they are produced
  10. Perform with implementing color changes as required
  11. Clean up scrap produced by the molding machines
  12. Make up hardware packages to be packed into boxed products
  13. Grind all runners and poorly produced parts
  14. Complete quality checks and related paperwork as necessary
  15. Perform general clean up of department at shift end
  16. All other duties as assigned

  • Identify problems with schedules, product runs, products produced, or machinery
  • To meet or exceed customer expectations


Job Specifications:



  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Able to take directions and work well as a team or independently
  • Strong math aptitude
  • Ability to lift 100 lbs.
  • Monday-Friday, 6am-2:30pm


Job Relationships:



  • Reports to the Sewing Supervisor or Shift Supervisor
  • Works closely with the Sewing Lead or Assistant
  • Work with various departments in plant operations


Authority:



  • Authority to stop production for non-conforming quality or safety compliance.
  • To support company policies and procedures.
  • Report non-conforming material and safety non-compliance to management.
  • Make decisions on accept or reject according to quality specifications.
  • Make logical decisions based on experience and/or company policy
