Job Summary

The Cafe Manager will focus on innovative hospitality and creating the cafe experience to support

operational excellence. This position reports into the General Manager and will leverage their strong

hospitality and operational skills to oversee the daily administrative and operational tasks, including

financial management and analysis, sanitation and safety.

The role will be based in Cambridge, MA.

The great things you'll do:
  • Hire, train, develop, and motivate team members to deliver exceptional service.

  • Manage HR processes, including union relations, payroll, and performance management.

  • Plans, markets and executes special events/promotions in the cafe

  • Ensures compliance with proper sanitation and cleaning standards

  • Operates within the budget and identifies new ways to improve the business

  • Manages cafe operations

  • Manage and design the cafe experience, prioritizing hospitality and quality standards.

  • Oversee daily operations, including kitchen, dining area, coffee bar, and front-of-house. Optimize inventory levels and ensure compliance with industry regulations and safety policies.

  • Exceed customer expectations by addressing feedback, resolving issues promptly, and fostering a positive dining experience.

  • Ensure adherence to sector and Compass employee guidelines, client's CPEs and SOPs, and all applicable health and safety regulations.

  • Perform other duties as assigned, such as inventory management, scheduling, and report generation.

What we look for in the perfect candidate:
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred

  • At least 1-3 years of relevant experience

  • Experience in restaurants, hotels, corporate dining, education, military, health care, and/or related food service operations

  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities

  • Operational knowledge of cash handling procedures and food service equipment

  • Proficient computer skills and knowledge of Google Suites.
