Full Range: $62,000 - $102,500 Annually

About the Position

In this position you will be responsible for proactively auditing the division's policies, procedures, and practices for compliance with federal, state, and local laws. Additionally, you will be in charge of creating and maintaining the divisions' written policies/procedures. You will also help develop training materials, educate staff on new legislative changes, and take lead roles in researching reports or inquiries related to potential violations of laws/policies.

We Require

  • Two years of professional analytical experience

  • Bachelor's degree in public, business administration, or a relevant field

  • A combination of education and experience may be considered in substitution for the minimum qualifications

  • Must be eligible to register to vote in Arizona

We Also Value:

  • Experience working in the Recorder's Office/Elections Department.

  • Experience reading, interpreting, and drafting policies/procedures

  • Experience with training and public speaking

Job Contributions

  • Conduct professional-level research, analysis, and development of new legislation and policies/procedures for the division

  • Create professional reports and training materials based on research and present to the administrative team and co-workers

  • Utilize research to develop and implement strategies to improve processes and procedures to maintain compliance with federal, state, and local laws

  • Oversee projects to a successful conclusion and communicate progress along with the way to administrative leaders

  • Assist management with developing and implementing compliance projects and evaluating results

  • Provide support in administering the development and maintenance of division policies/procedures

  • Complete special projects and confidential/investigative studies as directed

  • Serve as the Department liaison with other organizations and represent the division in meetings as needed

  • Assist with the development of voter registration system enhancements, documentation, as well as system testing for compliance with applicable laws

  • Perform other duties as assigned including assisting with overflow registration and petition verification work

Working Conditions

  • Must complete the next available Secretary of State Elections Officer Certification course

  • Extensive mandatory overtime during peak election cycles

  • The position is typically office or administrative work and is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions

  • Must be able to lift up to 20-25 lbs. occasionally, 10-25 lbs. frequently, or up to 10 lbs. constantly

  • The job requires attention to detail and thoroughness in completing work tasks; reliability, responsibility, and dependability in fulfilling obligations; consistency in meeting deadlines; ability to self-prioritize work and handle project support problems in a timely manner; and ability to maintain a courteous and professional demeanor
