JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible to complete various laborer and small equipment operation tasks to produce quality asphalt paving projects. Will travel up to a 200-mile radius of Sioux City, IA. This is a seasonal position that typically works April - November depending on the schedule with a winter lay-off. Typical schedule is Monday - Friday 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM, with Saturday as needed.

The starting wage is $24.10 and up depending on experience.

EDUCATION AND/OR WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS



  1. Equipment maintenance & operation
  2. Driver's License, preferred


DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES



  1. Uses safe work procedures that comply with safety policies and regulations. (Federal, state, local and company policies.)
  2. Signals operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery.
  3. Levels earth using pick or shovel (Aggregate or asphalt)
  4. May operate small powered hand tools
  5. May operate small equipment including bobcat, tractor, or roller or move from one site to another.
  6. Safely and properly perform maintenance (lubricating, fueling and cleaning) and operate small equipment, such as bobcat, tractor, jackhammer, pickup truck and air compressor.
  7. Shovel excess material away from asphalt plant and conveyors as needed.
  8. Hook up and un-hook small trailer to pick-up
  9. Able to operate skidsteer for cleanup of materials
  10. Unload oil trucks into proper tanks
  11. Monitor oil levels of all AC tanks
  12. Monitor belt tension and belt wear
  13. Monitor and troubleshoot all aspects of the asphalt plant
  14. Communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written) and work with people under high stress situations. Self-motivated, team-player with good interpersonal skills; ability to maintain positive customer relations & act courteous/respectful of others. Monitor and discuss production problems with co-workers and managers/supervisors.
  15. Ensure OSHA, safety and environmental regulation compliance.
  16. Performs other duties as assigned.
