JOB TITLE: Whey Plant Evaporator and Dryer Operator Relief, Night Shift
POSITION TYPE: Full time
CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt

Starting Pay: $23.08 per hour, increasing to $27.15 per hour after completing 60-day probation.
Earn an additional $2.00/hour shift premium for hours worked between 6:00PM - 6:00AM.

Available Openings:
* Monday - Friday, Night shift (10:00pm - 6:00am)
* Requires working a 2-2-3 schedule (6:00pm - 6:00am) when covering for an operator.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Operates and monitors high pressure pump, primary dryer and rotary dryer which converts liquid permeate into properly dried powder.
• Pump permeate from crystallizers to balance tank, to pre-heater, to high pressure pump, and into dryer.
• Adjusts speed in which permeate enters the balance tank and adjusts temperatures as needed.
• Operates and monitors permeate evaporators.
• Monitors solid levels and makes adjustments as needed.
• Performs piping and equipment hook-ups to prepare equipment for production and cleaning.
• Takes samples for lab analysis and testing.
• Performs equipment washing using the automated clean in place (CIP) system.
• Completes moisture testing to ensure powder quality.
• Keep proper bag count, follows checklists, and accurate paperwork logs.
• Must be willing to obtain forklift certification.
• Responsible for bag house operation and cleaning.
• Responsible for data entry and maintaining accurate information in our EPL system.
• Follow good manufacturing practices and plant procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Effective Cognition:

• Communicate effectively with plant personnel
• Work well independently or as a member of a work group
• Follow verbal work instructions
• Interpret and read information in the English language including safety rules, operatinginstructions and procedure manuals
• Perform basic math functions (adding, subtracting, fractions, etc.)
• Operate human machine interfaces and computers
• Able to tell time on an analog or digital clock

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

• Able to walk and stand on concrete surfaces for extended periods of time
• Able stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
• Use hands to flex, grip tools and operate machinery
• Push, pull, lift with arms below waist/at shoulder level/above shoulder level up to 50 pounds
• See close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and able to adjust focus
• Perform work in extreme hot or cold temperatures in a damp environment
• Wear required PPE (e.g., hearing protection, fall protection, bump cap, hair net, safety glasses, chemical handling PPE, etc.)
• Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 60 lbs.
