Supervisor Operations (Health Information Management)/Full Time

Responsible for facilitating the activities health information operations across the multi-facility integrated healthcare delivery system. With compliance with federal and state laws and generally accepted HIM best practices. The Supervisor of HIM Operations is responsible for appropriate release of health information, privacy, security and confidentiality of health information, quality assurance, compliance & auditing, imaging/scanning, Michigan vital records, data integrity, deficiency analysis and sanctions, HIE (Health Information Exchange), deployment and implementation efforts of information technology programs, medical record lifecycle management of retention, archiving, preservation, storage, and disposal of health information. Conducts interviews, recommends for hire, provides new hire orientation and training, and coaches employees for corrective and disciplinary actions. Builds and maintains strong working relationships with business units with a focus on quality of stellar customer service.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:



  • Associate's degree in Health Information Management or related health field required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related health field, preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years medical records leader experience or successful supervisor experience in a position that demonstrates leadership ability, initiative and assertiveness.
  • At least three (3) years working experience within an HIM department, preferred.
  • Proficiency with electronic health records, database, spreadsheet and related software programs, preferred.
  • Data management experience for report writing and tracking, preferred.
  • Ability to travel to all business units within Henry Ford Health System.
  • Highly developed communication skills and the ability to interact effectively and respectfully with staff.
  • Ability to estimate time frames and meet projected deadlines. Interpersonal skills necessary in order to provide effective leadership to departmental personnel and to develop and maintain a wide variety of internal and external cooperative working relationships.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to understand and lead change, use LEAN Process Improvement.


CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:



  • RHIT/RHIA certification, preferred.
