Your role with us:

As a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in Psychiatric Patient Services at Salem Health, the role focuses on providing direct, compassionate patient care while adhering to established policies and competencies. Responsibilities include assisting with personal care, monitoring and reporting patient condition changes, maintaining accurate documentation, and ensuring a safe environment. The CNA is also expected to be flexible with assignments and support new staff orientation, always prioritizing patient safety and well-being.

What you'll do:

  • Performs CNA I authorized patient care skills accurately and safely, following competency checklists and policies.

  • Observes and reports any changes in patient condition promptly to the Primary Nurse.

  • Provides personal care tailored to patients' developmental levels and encourages self-care while maintaining compassionate communication.

  • Ensures patient identification before treatments/tests and reinforces patient teaching related to daily living activities.

  • Documents patient information clearly and accurately using proper medical terminology and electronic systems.

  • Maintains a safe environment by following infection control, equipment protocols, and proper lifting/transfer techniques.

  • Demonstrates flexibility in scheduling and assignments to support patient care needs and unit productivity.

Required qualifications

  • Active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Licensure required.
  • Active Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required.

Additional information

  • Recent experience in an acute care setting preferred.
