Job Summary The Radiology Chief Technologist role is responsible for multiple departments at various locations within medical center campus, responsible for a staff of more than 20 employees (FTEs), has 24-hour/7 day inpatient/outpatient responsibility, participates in a hospital committee as a representative of the Radiology Department, participates in construction projects and new equipment selection and has supervisors reporting to them. They are responsible for supervising all supervisors that report to them, technologists and ancillary support staff under their direct supervision.
They are responsible for hiring new employees, organizing the workflow, coordination of daily work schedules, knowledgeable in all procedures, and enhancing image quality and enforcing patient safety. They are responsible for the productivity of the department and initiate projects for improvement of service levels and staffing. They have budgetary responsibility as it relates to labor and non-labor expenses. Strong leadership skills are required. The ability to effectively communicate with staff, departments and physicians is required. They are responsible for enforcing the National Patient Safety Goals to all employees and following up on all safety related issues. They are also responsible for implementing the customer service program and ensuring that each employee is responsible. The Chief Technologist needs to demonstrate a commitment to the requirements of the clinical training program by the colleges that are associated with UCSF and actively have their departments and staff participate in training students. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $227,200 - $277,000 (Annual Rate). Department Description The Radiology Department is a specialty medical service that offers a wide range of imaging techniques to diagnose and treat a broad range of medical conditions. The Diagnostic Section utilizes ionizing radiation through the use x-rays, radiography and fluoroscopy. At UCSF Medical Center, we offer the full spectrum of techniques, using the most advanced equipment. Combined with Bone Densitometry, Mammography, CT scans, MRI, PET, Ultrasound and Interventional we perform more than 500,000 procedures annually. In fact, a number of radiology advancements and applications were developed here.
Required Qualifications
- 7 years' of experience in the field of radiology
- 5 years' previous experience in an acute care setting in a leadership role (lead, supervisory, management) and / or equivalent experience / training.
- Licensed technologist in a radiology modality-Requires (CRT) CA Radiology Technologist
- ARRT certification
- CRT certification
- BLS
- MRSO (MR Safety Officer Certification)
- Requires advanced level testing in MR, CT or applicable
- Leadership skills in employee supervision and HR administration to effectively lead and motivate others. Conflict resolution skills to resolve personnel issues and counsel assigned staff to develop cooperative working relationships
- Clinical practice knowledge and applied background in a radiology modality. Knowledge of terms, concepts, and protocols. Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge in an acute care setting to improve operations.
- Knowledge of medical center, HR and UC policies and processes. Knowledge of relevant external regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a complex, challenging environment.
- Demonstrates adaptability and flexibility, anticipates and effectively handles change.
- Ability to organize division operations in an efficient and effective manner through improving Radiology processes, protocols, databases, and technology.
- Interpersonal skills to collaborate within and across departments.
- Proven analytical abilities and problem solving skills to quickly evaluate complex issues and identify options for resolution. Demonstrates sound judgement.
- Verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate through all mediums and with all groups. Demonstrated abilities to listen actively, persuade, advise, and counsel.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
- Proficiency with EPIC / Radiant RIS
- ACLS
- PALS
License/Certification
