Ayco advisors and technical specialists help clients achieve their personal financial goals through education and guided implementation across seven key financial disciplines, including employee benefit planning.

The Associate, TP&R Individual Tax Specialist is responsible for research, writing and advising as to substantive and compliance-related tax issues, both at the federal and state levels, with regard to individual income and estate/gift tax law as applied to higher net worth individuals, while working with Goldman Sachs financial planning advisors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Keep up to date on latest legislative, judicial and regulatory technical tax developments of federal and state income, gift and estate law in the context of higher net worth individual taxation. Emphasis is more so on general individual income tax law and planning, but with general understanding of estate and gift planning interaction with federal income tax laws.
  • Field and help answer ongoing GS-Ayco Advisor questions related to client issues with income tax compliance and planning. In addition, develop broader understanding of integrating income tax planning with general estate planning.
  • Provide research support for Tax Policy & Research peers when required.
  • Participate in client and GS-Ayco Advisor teleconferences to help explain technical tax issues and potential planning ideas.
  • Contribute to and update technical educational materials, including client-facing Insight memos and internally directed Technical Advisory and training memos.
  • Contribute to the creation of training materials for on-site training seminars and teleconferences, with eventual duties that may involve leading some training.



Qualifications/ Requirements:



  • JD degree; Two to three years of experience with federal income tax compliance and planning with higher net worth individuals.
  • Excellent writing/communication skills. Must feel confident with oral advisory and educational responsibilities.
  • Detail-oriented/organizational skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Independent learner with continuing desire to develop ongoing expertise in the subject matter.
  • Collaborates well with others when needed.


Salary Range
The expected base salary for this Albany, New York, United States-based position is $60000-$100000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
