Job Title: Administrative Assistant/Receptionist

Purpose
- The employee is responsible for providing assistance and information to the public. Knowledge in the areas of building plan review, permit issuance, and zoning is desired but not required. Work may vary in complexity and responsibility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Answer customer inquiries regarding building requirements, zoning, inspections, development orders, flood plain development requirements, coastal construction zones, contractor licensing, inspection tracking, and issuance of Certificates of Occupancy and/or Compliance using Energov software.
- Performs administrative and office support activities for multiple supervisors. Duties may include fielding telephone calls, receiving and directing visitors, word processing, creating spreadsheets and presentations, and filing. Extensive software skills are required, as well as Internet research abilities and strong communication skills.
- Enter permits into computer database and verify contractor licensing, insurances, 'strap' number, ownership and zoning of parcel in GIS.
- Also, may assist other administrative staff with overflow work, including word processing, data entry and Internet research tasks.
Education, Experience, and Licensing
- Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from High School and one year of customer service experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to deal with the public in a prompt, professional, and courteous manner.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical skills in determining square footage, linear feet, etc.
- Ability to learn associated computer systems applicable to permitting, such as GIS, EnerGov, etc.
