JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

This position provides administrative support in The Penn State Center of Excellence in Directed Energy (CEDE) and reports directly to the Center Director. As a member of the center team, the Administrative Assistant is responsible for maintaining the Director's calendar and schedule, maintaining project schedules with meeting coordination, tracking deadlines, arranging travel for the Director, assisting with developing agendas and coordinating activities for center events, and updating contact directories for the Center faculty, staff, and labs/facilities.

The Administrative Assistant will support the general administrative functions of the Center including greeting/referring/assisting visitors, customers, or staff; preparing documents and reports; compiling records; scheduling meetings; organizing and maintaining information; coordinating calendars; analyzing data including budgetary expenditures; and providing general office support.

Job duties include but are not limited to:

  • Maintain the director's calendar by scheduling and coordinating meetings for current research projects.

  • Serve as the primary contact and arranger of any travel needed.

  • Assist in developing agenda and coordinating activities for Center events.

  • Maintain updated contact directories for the Center faculty, staff, and lab/facilities.

Education:

  • This position requires a minimum of a High School Diploma and 2+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

This is a limited-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with a possibility of renewal.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$38,300.00 - $55,500.00
