Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Senior Manager of Learning and Development for the Institute for Families (
IFF) at the Rutgers University School of Social Work.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:
- Aligns the Institute's instructional design initiatives with organizational goals.
- Creates engaging, effective learning experiences that enhance the knowledge and skills of child- and family-serving professionals.
- Oversees assignments and monitors performance in alignment with contract deliverables and available resources.
- Establishes quality and branding standards for instructional development.
- Leads a large team of learning professionals and supervisors, providing strengths-based coaching that recognizes contributions while fostering professional growth.
- Engages with stakeholders, sponsors, and Institute leaders, requiring strong influencing and collaboration skills to work effectively across cross-functional teams.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Ten (10) years of progressive leadership in instructional services or training design, especially as it relates to education for child- and family-service professionals.

Certifications/Licenses |
- A valid driver's license would be required for this position; Use of personal vehicle in order to travel for business demands.
|
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities |
- Exceptional managerial skills.
- Strong experience in project management.
- Knowledge of learning and instructional theories and exposure to technologies supporting the design and development of learning products.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Strong diplomacy in interpersonal communications.
- Ability to negotiate with stakeholders holding varied backgrounds and perspectives.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Familiarity with adult learning theories, processes for curriculum development, and with technologies used to design and launch learning products.

Equipment Utilized |
- Must possess a high level of technological literacy and will benefit from a familiarity with rapid authoring tools.

Physical Demands and Work Environment |
- General office environment with light lifting.
- Occasional observation of coursework held outside normal business hours may require availability on evenings or weekends.
