3 Part-time vacancies available. This is an academic year position which typically runs from mid- August through mid-May. Work Schedule: Up to 19 hours per week, hours vary based on departmental needs.

Under the supervision of the Nursing Program Director, will teach classroom and clinical courses in the Practical Nursing program. Clinical instruction is provided in acute, subacute and long-term care settings. Related duties include participating in division and department activities and other duties as assigned. May be required to teach on evenings or weekends. Required to keep current with the latest trends and technologies in discipline.


Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare for and deliver instruction and perform teaching-related activities.
  • Manage the classroom/laboratory.
  • Develop curriculum and monitor and revise as appropriate to maintain course effectiveness; assist in program evaluation.
  • Manage equipment, supplies and materials.
  • Assess student performance and advise students on academic issues.
  • Collaborate with advisory committee in program area.
  • Attend departmental and institutional meetings.
  • Promote the education/training program, participate in efforts to recruit and retain students, and participate in efforts to market MATC.
  • Support student organizations and activities.
  • Develop relationships with business and industry.
  • Complete program evaluation and follow-up.
  • Maintain certification, continue professional development and stay current in field.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Educational Requirements: Must have a Master's degree in Nursing (MSN).

Occupational Experience Requirements:

Must have a minimum of two (2) years full-time equivalent (4,000 hours) experience as a Registered Nurse. In addition, one of the following must be met:

  • At least two (2) years work experience must have occurred within the last five (5) years

OR

  • Two (2) years of teaching Registered Nursing, Practical Nursing, or Nursing Assistant course work at the post-secondary level within the last five (5) years.

One (1) year of teaching experience equivalent to two (2) semesters full-time or four (4) semesters part-time.

Licensure: Must hold a current and unencumbered license as a Registered Nurse by the State of Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services.


Supplemental Information

Start Date: This position supports the Healthcare Pathway and is available to start immediately.

Hours: Up to 19 hours weekly, in-person, Multi-campus. This is a part-time faculty pool position. This is an "applicant pool" posting. Assignments are temporary, not guaranteed, can vary in hours/days, and will depend entirely on course availability and department needs each semester. All work must be performed in the state of Wisconsin. We are seeking candidates with flexibility to teach assignments to include any combination of the following:

  • Instructional Modality: In-person, online, and/or hybrid

  • Teaching Times: Daytime, evening, and/or weekend classes

Salary: The starting hourly wage for all part-time faculty is $40 per course hour of teaching. Part-time faculty are also compensated for an additional 45 minutes of time for each hour of instruction to cover office hours and prep time which is equivalent to $70 per hour. This starting hourly wage of $40 an hour is non-negotiable.

Interviews: As part of the interview process, selected candidates are required to prepare and present an interactive theory lesson and simulated teaching demonstration lasting 10 minutes of the overall interview time, which may be conducted in-person or virtually.

If selected, must satisfactorily complete health screen requirements for the Healthcare Pathway, which include a criminal background check, drug test, and verification of immunizations.
