Job Summary

Estrella Mountain Community College (EMCC) is hiring a Maintenance Operations Manager. This position will oversee the daily operations of campus maintenance activities performed by staff and contracted vendor services; will manage work orders, ensure timely customer service, and issue resolution; ensure staff and vendors have access to the resources needed to fulfill responsibilities. In addition, the hired individual will provide training and development of assigned staff through mentorship, training, and communicating job expectations. This position oversees Mechanical/Electrical/Plumbing-related infrastructure on our college campus.

Schedule is based on the operational needs of the department and EMCC.

To best serve the students, department, and college, this position requires physical presence on campus.

Essential Functions

40% - Building Maintenance Services: Manages the people and processes related to the maintenance and repair of building systems (M/E/P). Ensures that all maintenance work is performed in accordance with building codes, campus building standards and best practices. Participates in the development of renovation, upgrade and new construction of campus facilities.

30% - Contractor/Vendor management: Provides oversight and quality control related to third-party college maintenance services, which may include maintenance and operations services, and construction services.

20% - Organizes and/or maintains records and logs to ensure compliance with all applicable rules and regulations, identifies training needs and opportunities

10% - Other duties as be assigned commensurate to the grade level of the position.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED, and nine (9) years of full-time equivalent experience related to the described duties of this classification which includes two (2) years of supervisory experience.

An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.

Desired Qualifications

A. Experience with coordination of multiple teams

B. Experience performing Facilities Services in the Public or Higher Education setting

C. Experience with work requests, computerized maintenance management systems in administration of an M&O (Maintenance and Operation) program

D. Experience developing and implementing management practices to evaluate operational performance and staff supervision

E. Experience administering routine, planned, and emergency maintenance programs

F. Experience supervising a mechanical, electrical, or plumbing operation

Special Working Conditions

Will be required to work in an area of light to heavy noise levels daily

May be required to lift or carry items up to 50 pounds with or without accommodation

Climbing stairs and/or ladders to reach assigned areas along with working at heights

May be exposed to hazardous chemicals
