Insurance Company Financial Analyst Trainee

As a Trainee, you will learn the basics of the U.S. Solvency Framework, including the state-based system supported by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) and the risk-focused analysis process, statutory accounting principles and the Insurance Department's laws, regulations, rules, and procedures. As an Insurance Company Financial Analyst Trainee, you will have the opportunity to gain an understanding of the role of the Financial Analyst by assisting in the review and analysis of financial, transactional, and operational records, required filings, and other related items. You will learn the importance of analyzing reported financial results and identifying key financial risks in the ongoing solvency monitoring process. Work involves learning and understanding the role of the NAIC Financial Regulation Standards and Accreditation Program in monitoring the solvency regulation of multi-state insurance companies. You will also have the opportunity to learn how to compose requests for information from insurance companies or other regulated entity representatives; generate written reports, work papers, and spreadsheets; as well as perform basic research within the department's laws and regulations.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work schedule may vary from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, or 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
• Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
• Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $50,836.00 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• A bachelor's degree in insurance, accounting, finance, economics, business administration, risk-management, or a closely related field, which includes 15 college credits in accounting, finance, or auditing; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 15 college credits in accounting, finance, or auditing.
• Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
