As the Senior Human Resources Business Partner for New York Life's Technology and Data organization, you will manage a team of HR Business Partners, and partner with HR professionals across various disciplines to support the strategic development and execution of talent related priorities and desired business outcomes. You will serve as a key advisor to the Technology and Data Senior Leadership Team, and partner closely with Executives across the department who lead key business areas for New York Life.

As a trusted advisor, you will partner with senior leaders, managers, and employees in the proactive delivery of all HR services. Activities include but are not limited to: acting as an advisor to Technology and Data Senior Leadership; supporting talent priorities; educating employees at all levels on HR solutions; representing HR's point of view in business decisions; and ensuring the business strategy is reflected in HR objectives. This role is supported by HR Centers of Excellence (COE) that identify and provide solutions to business needs and implement core HR programs and policies in support of business strategy. The role will report to the Executive HR Business Partner who leads the HR Business Partner function supporting the Corporate Functions (including Technology and Data). The role will be based in New York, at our corporate headquarters.

What You'll Do:

  • Develop and implement a talent strategy that supports the short- and long- term businesses strategies, enterprise initiatives, and achievement of overall business objectives.
  • Work with business leadership to discern the current and future business needs to evaluate bench strength in key positions via established HR activities (e.g., Talent & Organization Planning).
  • Facilitate talent development discussions amongst business leadership (e.g., 9-box talent review discussions, targeted individual development planning, nominations for development programs).
  • Partner with leadership to identify and address workforce needs, organizational design, and talent strategies to drive business success and foster New York Life's inclusive culture.
  • Collaborate with leaders to develop and execute workforce plans and strategies for talent acquisition, retention, and development within the Technology and Data departments.
  • Lead HR efforts related to organizational change, including restructuring, workforce planning, and integration of new business initiatives.
  • Provide guidance to managers on HR policies and practices, and partner closely with Employee Relations COE and business/functional areas on ER matters, including but not limited to policy violations, performance issues, and job eliminations, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with Compensation COE in gaining knowledge of pay reference points and market data and support managers in the annual compensation planning cycle.
  • Leverage internal and external data, trends, analytics, and insights to assess talent gaps, forecast resource needs, and model future scenarios to accurately identify and prioritize talent risks and opportunities.
  • Analyze and interpret HR metrics to provide actionable insights and recommend data-driven solutions.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of two HR Business Partners, ensuring high levels of performance and engagement.

What You'll Bring:

  • Leadership - Viewed by the business as a trusted advisor providing a viewpoint on business opportunities. Effective at leading complex conversations, projects, and processes, and developing strategies to drive successful execution.
  • Technical expertise with a minimum of 10 years' experience working as an HR Business Partner.
  • Strong people manager, experienced in leading and developing team members, ensuring high levels of performance and engagement.
  • Strategic mindset with a drive to execute and get into the details when needed.
  • HR Functional knowledge - Recognized as an HR professional with detailed understanding of employee relations, talent acquisition, learning and organization development, talent practices, and total rewards to advise business/functional area leaders on shaping a work force that meets their priorities.
  • Skills in change management and organizational development a plus
  • Communication - Influences others, including senior leaders, in developing and implementing HR strategies; able to present to audiences of various sizes, toarticulate complex ideas and to persuade and negotiate with others.
  • Problem Solving - On a daily basis, solves unique and complex problems that require the application of conceptual, concrete, and innovative thinking.
  • Decision Making/Nature of Impact - Guides decisions in accordance with business or functional area objectives that have an impact on organizational structure, staffing assignments, employee development plans, and compensation.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proven experience supporting technology, data, or similar technical functions in a fast-paced, dynamic environment desired but not required.
  • Bachelors' degree required.

Pay Transparency

Salary Range:$137,500-$225,000

Overtime eligible:Exempt

Discretionary bonus eligible:Yes

Sales bonus eligible:No

Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual's experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
