Job Title: Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant

Location: Detroit, MI

Inpatient/Outpatient: 10% Inpatient Rounding, 90% Outpatient Office

Case Load: 100% Adult Female.

Position Overview:

Ascension Medical Group Michigan is seeking a Full-Time Advanced Practice Provider (APP) - Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) - to join our busy OBGYN Urogynecology practice. This position involves rounding at St. John Moross and Macomb Oakland-Warren, with a typical work schedule of 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM, with no weekends and no call. The APP will have a variety of responsibilities, including rounding on surgical patients at both hospitals, conducting post-operative appointments, triaging patients, assisting with procedures, and seeing new patients alongside the physician. This is a fast-paced and rewarding practice with a strong support team, including front desk staff, Medical Assistants (MAs), and Registered Nurses (RNs), who have been together for many years and provide excellent collaboration and care.

In collaboration with a physician, provides for the expansion of individualized primary healthcare services by diagnosing and treating certain acute or chronic health conditions. Responsibilities: Obtains patient history and performs assessment via observation, interview and examination. Orders, performs and interprets diagnostic studies. Performs preventative health assessments, screening, immunizations and patient care.| Provides direct treatment and management of health conditions via referral to other healthcare providers or community resources.| Counsels and educates patients and their families/caregivers concerning preventative health, treatment options and community resources.| Documents delivery of health care and nursing processes in accordance with specific specialty area standards and network nursing policy. Licensure / Certification / Registration: Certification as a Nurse Practitioner. Advanced Life Support credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) preferred. Education: Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program required. Master's degree preferred. Work Experience: 1-2 years of recent and relevant work experience as a Certified Nurse Practitioner with 1st Assistant in the OR in Neurosurgery or Orthopedic Spine Surgery.

Qualifications:

* NP - Completion of a Nurse Practitioner training program accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC)

* PA - Completion of a Physician Assistant training program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA)

* NP - Certification by a certification body recognized by the State of Michigan

* PA - Certification by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)

Licensure and Certification

* Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state of Michigan, or in process of applying (must have proof of application)

* National certification as an NP or PA (e.g., ANCC, AANP, NCCPA)

* Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

* DEA/CSL, required through credentialing.

o DEA - NPs do not have controlled substance licenses, only PAs. When NPs apply, they will enter MI license number instead of controlled substance license since they won't have a CSL.
