Overview

Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) has an exciting opportunity for an IS&T Storage Engineer, supporting TOS II, at Arnold Air Force Base, TN. As an IS&T Storage Engineer, you will be working as a member of an integrated team responsible for design, support and maintenance of Data Storage Systems and Peripherals for the United States Air Force Test Operations and Sustainment efforts.

Open to internal and external candidates. The selected candidate for this requisition may be required to occasionally (e.g. application upgrades) work outside normal business hours.

Job Summary

Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) is the team selected by the U.S. Air Force to conduct Test and Operations Sustainment at the Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC) at Arnold Air Force Base in Tennessee. AEDC operates more than 55 aerodynamic and propulsion wind tunnels, rocket and turbine engine test cells, space environmental chambers, arc heaters, ballistic ranges and other specialized units located in six states. Many of the complex's test units have capabilities unmatched elsewhere in the United States; some are unique in the world. AEDC is one of three installations which are part of the Air Force Test Center (AFTC), one of six subordinate commands of the Air Force Materiel Command organization, and an important national resource.

AEDC's mission is to conduct developmental test and evaluation for the Nation through modeling, simulation, and ground and flight test. Execution of the mission requires a large team of highly qualified and dedicated professionals from multiple technical disciplines to effectively accomplish the objectives of our test customers.

Job Duties:

    Design, implement, and manage complex storage solutions using NetApp, SpectraLogic, Versity ScoutAM, VMware, RedHat, OpenShift, HPE DMF, and related technologies.
  • Configure and maintain SAN infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Manage and maintain LTO tape libraries for deep storage, data backup and archival purposes.
  • Analyze, Deploy and maintain requirements driven storage solutions, involving Block, File, Object and Linear Tape IO.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve storage-related issues promptly and efficiently to maintain high availability and integrity.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and operation of storage solutions with other IT infrastructure components.
  • Administer Red Hat Linux servers and OpenShift environments to support the stability and security of our storage systems.
  • Maintain detailed documentation for storage configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and technologies and advise leadership of available options when evolution and refresh is necessary.
  • Work with the Information System Security Manager (ISSM) to ensure compliance with information assurance regulations and best practices.
  • Ensure Cybersecurity requirements are consistently documented, maintained, evaluated and compliant for Air Force IT system networks including components of systems.
  • It is a condition of employment to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Computer Engineering, Science, or Information Systems and minimum 5 years of progressive and relevant experience or any equivalent combination of relevant education and progressive and relevant experience.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance and access to the AEDC local area network.
  • Current U. S. Citizenship required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Practical experience in centralized IT storage management and administration of RedHat Linux, and Windows Operating Systems.
  • Working knowledge of storage architectures involving Fibre Channel, iSCSI, NFS, and/or CIFS protocols paired with SAN solutions, Tape Technologies and Virtualization platforms.
  • Ability to perform troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to implement security best practices and design principles.
  • Experience with performance tuning and capacity planning for storage systems.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Must currently possess or commit to obtain any requisite certifications required for assuming administrative role in accordance with DoD8140 within 6 months of hiring date.
  • Certifications in relevant technologies (e.g., NetApp Certified Data Administrator, VMware Certified Professional, Red Hat Certified Engineer, Microsoft Certified Solutions Engineer).
  • Experience with Hierarchical Storage Management solutions such as HPE Data Management Framework (DMF) and/or Versity ScoutAM.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation tools (e.g., Bash, PowerShell, Python, Ansible).
  • Knowledge of containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Practical cybersecurity experience to assess and harden software and systems for acceptance onto DoD networks.
  • Familiarity with disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
  • Ability to mentor and provide technical guidance to junior team members.
  • Active DoD security clearance
