Position Overview

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Americas Demand & Capacity Planning, the Supply Chain Planner is a key role in the supply chain organization and will have a dual focus: supporting the organization at a tactical level in the demand and capacity planning process, as well as supporting the operational level with production scheduling responsibilities. The person in this role is an analytical thinker and a strong communicator, with his or her decisions having a significant impact on the organization's strategy and focus.

Job Responsibilities


  • Work with business unit leadership to generate and refine a consensus demand plan. Utilize tools such as Forecast Accuracy, Trend/Volatility Analysis, Market Benchmarking, etc. to challenge and improve the consensus plan.
  • At a tactical level, assist in converting the consensus demand plan to an executable manufacturing plan (i.e. - raw material requirements, production by plant and resource, utilization rates, etc.) and to identify and communicate and gaps between consensus and executable plan.
  • Consider the impact of market changes or significant variances in the forecast, evaluate potential scenarios, and recommend appropriate revisions and tactics.
  • At an operational level, production scheduler responsibilities include continually balancing and rebalancing resources (such as equipment, raw materials, and staffing) in effectively deploying a production schedule that allows manufacturing to run as efficiently as possible while meeting customer expectations.
  • Generate an MPS (Master Production Schedule) that optimizes work streams for products through the allocation of production resources; communicate the MPS to supply chain stakeholders, the plant, and across partner supply networks; and make adjustments to the master production schedule to accommodate near-term customer orders that differ from the agreed S&OP plan

Skills and Knowledge Required for the Role


  • Strong functional knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Power Point, etc.) is critical to enable demand planning and reporting, and familiarity with other applications such as Power BI, SAP, or other ERP systems is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into high-level analysis and demand planning.
  • Broad knowledge and relationships across different parts of the organization: commercial, sales, marketing, product development, finance and manufacturing.
  • Ability to react quickly to plant operational challenges, generate creative solutions, and work towards an effective production plan.
  • Clearly communicates plans and schedules, followed by assumptions and solutions used to derive the information

Academic Qualifications and Work Experience


  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Supply chain degree is desirable
  • Supply chain/operations certification a plus, such as APICS, CPIM or lean
  • 5+ years' Demand Planning and/or Supply Chain experience in relevant industries.
  • Excellent level of written and spoken English
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
