Introduction to the job

We have an exciting opportunity for a summer intern to join a dynamic and innovative Technology Development team, focused on conceiving and demonstrating the technologies required for next generations of high-power extreme ultraviolet (EUV) light sources. The successful candidate must have a passion for innovation, be driven by curiosity, and have deep technical understanding, in order to excel in our Research environment. The successful candidate should be comfortable operating in our diverse mix of physics, engineering and materials science, in order to define the source architecture for next generations of the EUV source.

The Virtual Source team's objective is to spearhead model development activities into an integrated master model environment to help narrow down the uncertainty in future source system configuration and technology selection early in the process. You will be given the opportunity to further develop virtual source by initiating the development of a dynamic front-end interface for a virtual model that integrates existing physics-based models. You will also help us enhance our portfolio in the data analysis, AI and Machine Learning space.

Role and responsibilities
  • Initiate and lead the development of a dynamic front-end interface for our Virtual Source master model that integrates existing physics-based models and to help us run system level trade off analysis.

  • Initiate and lead the development of scientific models, simulations, AI and data solutions to perform system level tradeoffs, and help us specify the lithography source technology configuration.

  • Adapt and integrate the existing physics based models into a master virtual model, and to deploy and maintain models and testing databases.

  • Troubleshoot codes and algorithms required for source operation, data streaming, storage and queries.

  • Directly work with a team of key stakeholders and lead back-end developer to ensure compatibility of the front-end design with the envisioned use-cases and back-end development roadmap.

  • Document learning and communicate knowledge to engineering and product development teams to guide product improvement and release of new product nodes.

  • Work independently and in teams to deliver on a stated objective, whether it be the pursuit of new knowledge, the demonstration of a new capability, or the characterization of existing performance.

  • Ability to work extended hours and second shift in the clean room as needed.

  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Education and experience
  • Studying towards a PhD degree or a recent graduate in an analytical field such as math, computer science, physics, or engineering.

  • Experience solving complex and open ended modeling problems using different techniques and optimization algorithms, deep learning, and hands-on implementation of these techniques.

  • Strong software development skills such as Python, C/C++, Matlab, and working with NumPy, Scikit-learn, Pandas, Keras and SciPy, OpenCV, and database tools and automation schemes. Proficiency with MLFlow for managing end-to-end Machine Leaning lifecycle.

  • Experience working in cloud and development environments such as Azure Kubernetes Services (AKS), Apache Spark, Azure Databricks, and related technologies.

  • Nice to have proficiency in using GPU and TPU hardware accelerators for deep learning and inference.

Skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a part of a team and lead investigation and research efforts involving multiple stakeholders and constraints.

  • Deep understanding of scientific research methods and strong curiosity

  • The successful candidate will not only have excelled in their technical field, but will have demonstrated inter-personal and communications strengths.

  • Ability to clearly and logically communicate ideas and knowledge to various audiences.
