Reporting to the Head of Evidence and Value Generation (EVG), the Associate Director, Evidence and Value Generation Operations is responsible to provide operational leadership for the development and design, implementation, and ongoing management of systems, processes, and ways of working of the EVG organization. This individual will provide comprehensive operational oversight of the evidence generation portfolio for the EVG leadership team; proactively anticipate and assess resourcing needs and develop, maintain, and evolve a resourcing model and plans for EVG that ensure resourcing to best equip the organization to successfully deliver our commitments; as well as proactively anticipate roadblocks to the team's success and develop and implement solutions to remove them for the team's benefit. This individual will be a member of the EVG leadership team and have responsibility for guiding the operational strategy in support of future growth and success of the department as a whole, in concert with the rest of the leadership team.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

Systems, Processes and Ways of Working Improvement

  • Lead the development and design, implementation, uptake, and ongoing management of departmental systems, processes and ways of working designed to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the department, including, but not limited to:
    • Annual strategic project planning (i.e., IEGP) and budget setting
    • Establishment and ongoing management of the EVG book of work
    • Strategic resource planning and management
    • Evaluation of current state of EVG ways of working and development of new standards and best practices, including SOPs, WIs, and templates, as appropriate, to enhance operational efficiency of the department
    • Strong partnership with stakeholders outside EVG to ensure optimal delivery and use of evidence produced by EVG; work with EVG leads to anticipate future needs
    • Collaborate with other EVG leaders to establish and track annual objectives, targets, and milestones throughout the year, providing proactive guidance around these areas in the face of evolving business needs
    • Drive EVG department compliance on training and provide periodic evaluation of training needs with recommendations to ensure and enhance training for the department
    • Administer the non-interventional review committee (NRC), with an eye on opportunities for ongoing process improvement
    • Actively participate as a member of the EVG leadership team, collaborating with the rest of the team to resolve complex issues and successfully guide the future of the department

Financial Management

  • Proactively monitor and track EVG budgets and performance, providing direction and recommendations for improvement and efficiencies
  • Strong partnership with the Finance department to ensure support for EVG activities
  • Provide quarterly financial metric assessment and updates to EDGE organizational management for EVG activities and studies

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • 7-10+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry or allied profession
  • Proven record of accomplishment delivering operational excellence in building and implementing resourcing models, strategic project planning, and financial management and planning
  • System thinker when it comes to establishing processes and solutions
  • Demonstrated understanding of clinical and observational study structure and costs
  • Demonstrable understanding of medical affairs/R&D/experience of supporting clinical trials a distinct advantage
  • Demonstrated excellence in collaborating within and across departments to drive successful outcomes
  • Demonstrated strength in influencing without direct authority in a matrixed environment
  • Experience working with members of senior leadership
  • Approaches change with an open mind and welcomes and leverages the thoughts, views, and opinions of others
  • Flexible, positive, creative thinker with interpersonal skills that facilitate strong relationship building
  • Excellent analytical skills and cogent and persuasive writing and presentation skills
  • Strong IT skills with a "hands-on" approach to maximizing data input and output and analysis
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, flexible, team-oriented environment.

Required/Preferred Education and Licenses

  • Undergraduate degree level or higher, preferably in a science-related field

Jazz Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices and we strive to provide employees with total compensation packages that are market competitive. For this role, the full and complete base pay range is: $147,200.00 - $220,800.00

Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, and other pertinent factors. The goal is to ensure fair and competitive compensation aligned with the candidate's expertise and contributions, within the established pay framework and our Total Compensation philosophy. Internal equity considerations will also influence individual base pay decisions. This range will be reviewed on a regular basis.

At Jazz, your base pay is only one part of your total compensation package. The successful candidate may also be eligible for a discretionary annual cash bonus or incentive compensation (depending on the role), in accordance with the terms of the Company's Global Cash Bonus Plan or Incentive Compensation Plan, as well as discretionary equity grants in accordance with Jazz's Long Term Equity Incentive Plan.
