SUMMARY The Forklift Operator is responsible for loading, unloading, and moving all materials throughout the facility and assists in the handling/processing of materials as needed. This person also performs cleaning duties which includes all areas of the office and all departments of the plant floor with tools such as shovels, squeegees, blowers, floor scrubber, brooms, fork truck, etc. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Other duties may be assigned and management retains the discretion to add, delete, or change the duties at any time)
- Separate, sort, and process using necessary tools to complete tasks
- Operate forklifts, balers, trash compactor, and other equipment as needed.
- Complete forklift inspections using inspection report and report any significant issues.
- Weigh, label, and properly store processed materials as required.
- Keep area neat and clean at all times utilizing brooms, shovels, and blowers, including at the end of the shift which requires bending, twisting and lifting up to 50 lbs., with assistance, into a container 4' high.
- Lift material, up to 50 lbs., with or without assistance, into a Gaylord container, conveyors, or waste roll-off. Material will come from ground to container, conveyor to another conveyor, or other means as directed
- Identify and remove foreign contaminants from conveyor
- Ensure material is properly inspected by controlling and operating the speed of the conveyor.
- Recognize and comply with LockOut / TagOut procedures
- Use required PPE which includes, but is not limited to, proper footwear, high visibility, hard hat or bump cap, ear, eye, and hand protection.
- Empty trash containers throughout the facility
- Comprehend and adhere to all written and verbal safety policies and procedures
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance
- Interact in-person with peers and management for the duration of the shift with face-to-face interactions, use of hand held radio, and group meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Must be able to handle high stress situations
- Must be able to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Must be able to train others while performing the essential duties of this job.

Qualifications
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent (required)
- Forklift certified, or ability to obtain forklift certification (required)
- 6 months to 1 year of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment (preferred)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Stands and/or walks for the majority of the shift; frequently on uneven floors/ground or raised platforms.
- Bend,twist, push, pull, grasp, hold, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Constant repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers; to operate warehouse equipment.
- Specific vision requirements include color, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Routinely performs repetitive movements such as bending, twisting, reaching and lifting.
- May be required to lift, carry, and/or position material weighing up to 50 lbs. with assistance.
- Frequent exposure to moving mechanic parts.
- Able to work in a loud, wet, dusty, and physically demanding work environment including extreme hot and cold temperature variations.
