Description

The Staff Accountant will be responsible for managing daily banking activities, maintaining fixed assets, handling sales tax, performing account reconciliations, overseeing contractor accounts payable, providing audit support, and conducting inventory reconciliation. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with various departments.

Key Areas of Responsibility:



  • Daily Bank Activities: Monitor and manage daily bank transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, and transfers. Ensure accurate and timely recording of all banking activities.
  • Fixed Assets: Maintain and update the fixed asset register. Perform regular asset audits, track asset depreciation, and ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
  • Sales Tax: Prepare and file sales tax returns accurately and on time. Stay updated on sales tax regulations and ensure compliance with state and local tax laws.
  • Account Reconciliations: Perform monthly account reconciliations for various general ledger accounts. Identify and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Contractor Accounts Payable: Manage accounts payable for contractors, including processing invoices, verifying payment terms, and ensuring timely payments. Maintain accurate records of all contractor transactions.
  • Audit Support: Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and information. Ensure compliance with audit requirements and address any audit findings.
  • Inventory Reconciliation: Conduct regular inventory reconciliations to ensure accuracy of inventory records. Investigate and resolve any discrepancies between physical inventory and system records.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience, preferably in a similar role.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with ERP systems.
  • Knowledge of sales tax regulations and compliance.
  • Experience in managing fixed assets and performing account reconciliations.
  • Avalara Experience helpful.
