Overview
*This position can be located in our Byron Center, MI, Hazel Park, MI, Milwaukee, WI, Mayville, WI, or Fond du Lac, WI facilities.* The Director of Strategic Sourcing leads the strategic and tactical day-to-day activities of the strategic sourcing function. Implements sourcing strategies, manages supplier relationships, and negotiates contracts to ensure the company obtains necessary materials at competitive prices.
Responsibilities
Leads high performing strategic sourcing team. Performs full range of managerial responsibilities which may include but not be limited to: interviewing, hiring, coaching, and developing employees; planning, assigning, and directing work performance management; department budget.
- Creates comprehensive sourcing strategies that support the company's goals, enhance supply chain efficiency, and reduce costs.
- Identifies, evaluates, and manages relationships with key suppliers to ensure they meet quality, cost, and delivery expectations.
- Leads negotiations with suppliers to secure the best terms and conditions, including pricing, delivery, and service agreements.
- Analyzes potential risks within the supply chain and develops strategies to mitigate these risks.
- Collaborates effectively with various departments, such as operations, finance, and product development, to understand their sourcing needs and align sourcing strategies accordingly.
- Develops and monitors key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness of sourcing strategies and supplier performance.
- Identifies opportunities for cost savings through strategic sourcing initiatives, process improvements, and supplier negotiations.
- Drives continuous improvement efforts.
- Completes other projects as assigned.
Qualifications

- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to lead a high performing purchasing team.
- Sound knowledge of sourcing and supply chain concepts and practices.
- Excellent communication with internal and external stakeholders.
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business, engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Master's degree preferred.
Experience Requirements
- Ten years of experience in strategic sourcing or related field. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Demonstrated success leading teams.
- Prior experience in the manufacturing industry preferred.
