- Direct and oversees the organization's domestic and international tax policies and objectives.
- Manages 2 Experienced Tax Analysts and External Consultants.
- Monitors reporting and planning to ensure compliance with applicable tax statutes.
- Ensures accuracy of tax returns and works to minimize the organization's tax obligations.
- Identifies opportunities to reduce the company tax rate and works with the organization to implement these initiatives.
- Manage all tax examinations by external governmental auditors and resolves the tax issues in the most cost-effective manner.
- Manage all indirect taxes (sales and use, GST, property) and annual R&D tax credit with assistance as needed from third parties.
- Determines on which issues cannot be promptly resolved and, with the help of the law department, appeals those issues to the appropriate level of the respective government agency.
- Becomes involved in acquisitions and corporate structuring to create the most tax efficient transaction for Carpenter.
- Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS FOR THE DIRECTOR - TAXES
- Four-year college degree required.
- Ten or more years of Corporate Tax experience, including at least five years in a management role.
- Apply broad business and management expertise to drive financial and operational performance across multiple departments and/or functions.
- Have extensive knowledge and experience within their own function and general knowledge of areas, departments and/or function(s) within and across other disciplines.
- Executes departmental and functional business plans and contributes to the development of discipline strategies.
- Directs the allocation of resources to meet financial performance requirements.
- Directs the resolution of highly complex or unusual business problems that cross functions and/or disciplines.
- Negotiates with customers and/or organizational leadership to set priorities; builds organization capabilities to serve customer needs.
- Ability to organize and prioritize tasks and decision-making capabilities.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Ability to direct and supervise others and objectively evaluate performance.
- Ability to train and develop others.
