Position Overview McAdams Planning Interns assist in the coordination, analysis and development of planning documents and materials for a variety of project types while working as part of the Planning + Design Department. Key Responsibilities
- Assist team in project research and analysis
- Assist team as a production resource for high quality deliverables
- Develop and update maps and visual materials using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software, illustrating project data, zoning details, and spatial relationships
- Help draft reports, proposals, and presentations for planning projects, ensuring information is accurate, well-organized, and visually engaging
- Conduct research on zoning regulations, land use policies, and planning codes to inform project decisions and ensure compliance with local, regional, and state regulations
- Work closely with planners, project managers, and other team members to gain insights into the planning process and understand how planning decisions impact communities
- Work in accordance with company standards and protocols
- Attend company training sessions including lunch and learns
- Perform other duties as assigned
Skills + Experience
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree from an accredited program in City/Community/Regional Planning or a related field
- Experience with GIS, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office and other associated software preferred
- Experience with AutoCAD preferred
- Ability to conduct data analysis and synthesize information related to demographics, land use, and transportation, with attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Capable of managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced work environment
- Eager to learn, proactive, and comfortable working collaboratively with diverse team members and community stakeholders

- Must be able to carry, lift and push/pull up to 5 pounds frequently and up to 30 pounds occasionally.
