Job Summary

This role will support the U. S. Department of Education Postsecondary Student Success Grant objectives in alignment with the college's mission, vision, and strategic goals. Under general supervision from the director and with independent judgment, this individual will be responsible for supporting LaunchPad: Social Sciences faculty, staff, and students with creating and guiding career related exposure in the social science field. Including creating, connecting, and communicating career-related topics by planning and implementing LauchPad: Social Sciences workshops, classroom presentations, and student programming to connect students with individuals working in the field though collaborative partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.

This is a grant funded position.


Essential Duties

Working in collaboration with various departments/schools, LaunchPad: Social Sciences faculty, internal, and external stakeholders to communicate, plan, and lead student programming opportunities for students to gain exposure to various careers within social sciences through programs, services, events, and outreach activities.

Supporting LaunchPad: Social Sciences students by providing quality interactions to help students learn about themselves, future careers, and achieving academic success within college and beyond.

Establish and maintain positive and effective relationships with students and faculty, along with internal and stakeholders to develop and maintain relationships with external individuals to create opportunities for LaunchPad: Social Science students.

Engage LaunchPad: Social Science students in all student-focused events and opportunities, including tabling and attending events and meetings that may occur outside of traditional office hours.

Other duties as assigned help advance the vision, mission, and goals of the PSSG in alignment with TCC.


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences and/or closely related field. Degree requirement may be substituted with relevant and equivalent work experience.

Three years experience working in a higher education setting to support student success.

One year experience in providing general career guidance to individuals, helping them identify their strengths and weaknesses in a college setting.

Ability to communicate information to staff, students, along with internal and external stakeholders effectively.

Willingness to work collaboratively as part of a team, and a proven ability to create a safe and welcoming environment for students from all backgrounds.

Ability to communicate information and ideas, so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.

Ability to constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, printer, and phone.

Ability to work exposed to outdoor weather conditions occasionally.

Ability to transport items weighing up to 20 pounds across offices for various needs.


Preferred Qualifications

Prefer Master's degree social Sciences and/or closely related field. Degree requirement may be substituted with relevant and equivalent work experience.
