General Information:

Payroll Services at James Madison University is accepting applications for a Fiscal Technician. This position will report to the Payroll Operations Manager and serves as the primary point of contact for all incoming calls and visitors.

This position is an in-person position and not available to be fully remote. Teleworking one day a week may be discussed.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The primary objective of this position is to ensure accuracy and data integrity of all JMU wage payments on a semi-monthly basis by analyzing, entering and reconciling hours using the JMU Time Entry process, as well as, entering and auditing W-4/VA-4 forms for all JMU employees. This position also serves as primary point of contact for all incoming calls and visitors relating to JMU Time Entry and other pay questions. The position provides the Director with up-to-date budget information for all non-personal services and is responsible for maintaining JMU's Effort Reporting tables. Position also acts as a backup for the Direct Deposit Coordinator.

Qualifications:

Required:



  • Knowledge of general office principles and practices
  • Detail oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products, including Excel and Word
  • Ability to multi-task in a deadline driven, fast-paced environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse constituents (both orally and in writing)
  • Ability to deal with difficult situations in a profession and confidential manner
  • Ability to uphold a high level of accuracy and data integrity
  • Ability to work with a team and independently when necessary


Additional Considerations:



  • Experience with automated payroll software and timekeeping procedures
  • PeopleSoft HRMS experience
  • PeopleSoft Finance experience
  • Experience with eVA
