Position Summary
The Collections Specialist is responsible for collections of outstanding accounts receivable dollars from the existing client base and all other aspects of collections, resolving customer billing problems and reducing accounts receivable delinquency. Position requires daily communication with external customers, internal departments, and internal sales staff. Responsibilities:
- Reviewing open accounts for collection efforts.
- Correspondence to customers to encourage payment of delinquent accounts.
- Performs outgoing collection requests including phone calls, letters, and legal action if necessary
- Making outbound collection calls in a professional manner while keeping and improving customer relations
- Performs account reconciliations and analysis
- Provide timely follow-up on payment arrangements.
- Collect customer payments in accordance with payment due dates.
- Provide and prepare statements, invoices, and other reports/documents to recommend appropriate actions on customer accounts
- Resolves client-billing problems, troubleshooting and rescues accounts receivable delinquency, applying good customer service in a timely manner.
- Identify issues attributing to account delinquency and discuss/escalate to management and/or internal sales staff.
- Review and research assigned accounts for application of unapplied cash and deposits.
- Enforces adherence to corporate collection policies and procedures
- Other duties as required or needed
Qualifications
Experience and Skills
- The ideal candidate for this position will have a minimum of 3-5 years of corporate business to business collections experience including interaction with a large customer base.
- Experience in a gaming environment is preferred but not required.
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills required
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and to adapt to a fast-changing environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel and Word
- Computer literate
- Must have attention to detail with an eye for accuracy.
- Creative, self-disciplined, and capable of identifying and completing critical tasks independently and with a sense of urgency.
- Multiple ERP experience
- Ability to deliver difficult news diplomatically
- Ability to be assertive when reasoning and negotiating with customers
- Ability to apply fundamental accounting knowledge to daily transactions
- Ability to handle multiple assignments
Education: High school diploma Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 25 pounds is required. Work Conditions: Generally, work in an office environment. No travel is expected.
