Wieland is hiring a Human Resources Manager. The Human Resources Manager is responsible for performing a variety of functions to support and manage the day-to-day administration of various HR policies and procedures for the facility. Serves as employee liaison to centers of excellence for payroll and benefits issues. Handles HRIS entries, reporting from HCM and time tracking systems, policy administration, hourly recruiting and onboarding, grievance resolution, collective bargaining agreement reviews and other HR processes. This role is located in Waterbury, CT and will be fully on-site.
Responsibilities
Human Resources Manager Responsibilities: Administration
Single point of contact for documentation and administration: Enter new hires, terminations, and employee status changes into HCM and verify accuracy.
- Maintain electronic employee records.
- Maintain role descriptions.
- Support SR. HR Manager in ensuring compliance with all company policies.
- Review Pay-For-Skills verifications (where applicable) to determine appropriate pay level changes.
- Administer the Rewards and Recognition program; provide certificates for service anniversaries.
- Coordinate manning, curtailing, bidding and recall of hourly employees.
- Provide various reports for month-end reporting and as requested.
- Update documents for HR department as needed.
- Performs and facilitates general administrative duties including filing, mailing, scanning, faxing, and coordination of meetings.
Strategy
- Manage Human Resources strategies aligned with Company and business unit objectives.
- Participate or lead business unit leadership meetings and presentations, including staff meetings.
- Participate in budget preparation or review and strategic planning.
- Lead people, support and lead cultural organizational needs, and create career growth opportunities that support employee engagement and retention objectives.
- Participate in and roll up key metrics for the location to the HR team: turnover, grievances, absenteeism.
People/Culture
- Resolve employee relations issues and complaints. Interface with employees and management to clearly identify issues, perform or support internal investigations, liaise with necessary parties for suitable resolution.
Union Compliance
- Interpret and ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreements.
- Collaborate with labor relations or legal counsel on grievance handling, arbitration processes, and negotiations.
- Support contract administration and ensure adherence to union rules and procedures.
Talent Acquisition Support
- Coordinate with Talent Acquisition team to initiate job requisitions and employment offers.
- Coordinate with Talent Acquisition on pre-employment requirements for hourly candidates, such as background check, drug testing and physicals.
- Conduct new employee orientation sessions to cover important information about job, company, benefits, policies and resources. Serve as a resource to new employees with questions.
Payroll Support
- Support supervisors process in the time and attendance system by confirming supervisor approvals for unscheduled work and time off.
- Manage attendance tracking system and issue warnings per policy.
- Communicate with Payroll Coordinator on pay, deductions, garnishments, adjustments, etc.
Benefits Support
- Educate employees about and promote health, life, disability, retirement and other benefits offered. Coordinate with and escalate issues to the WNA Benefits team as needed.
- Coordinate with Benefits team to track FMLA hours and STD/LTD status and refer employees to contact WNA Benefits team to initiate the leave process.
- Coordinate with managers on the return-to-work process/approval for employees with restrictions.
- Serve as a wellness champion and promote employee involvement in the Vitality program.
- Schedule onsite benefits events and educational seminars for employees.
Additional Accountabilities
- Plan company-sponsored employee events and activities.
- Support special projects and duties as assigned.
Human Resources Manager Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- HR Certification preferred (PHR).
- 5+ years HR related management experience.
- Experience working in a union environment preferred.
- Prior experience in manufacturing environment preferred.
- Prior experience working with HRIS systems preferred.
- Excellent MS Office skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
