Lead Developer (Remote, US-Based)

We are on a mission to make giving more accessible by enabling people to generate partner-funded donations through their everyday spending. Our platform supports a wide range of causes, from local schools and animal shelters to national charitable organizations. We are looking for a Lead Developer to join our engineering team and help enhance our products.

Role Overview

As a Lead Developer, you will drive the technical execution and ongoing development of our platform. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to deliver scalable, high-quality software solutions. You will mentor a team of developers, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to the overall growth and success of the platform.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams to build user-friendly web applications.
  • Develop and maintain React front-end components, ensuring responsiveness and a seamless user experience.
  • Integrate front-end components with back-end APIs, working closely with back-end engineers.
  • Write clean, modular, and well-documented code following industry best practices.
  • Conduct testing and debugging to identify and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Stay up to date with front-end technologies and industry trends.
  • Participate in agile development processes and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements

We are looking for a candidate who embodies the following qualities:

  • 7+ years of experience in designing and developing high-quality React applications.
  • 3+ years of experience in developing robust Ruby applications.
  • Expertise in building responsive web applications, ensuring cross-browser and device compatibility.
  • Strong understanding of UI/UX design principles and the ability to collaborate with designers.
  • Experience with version control systems (Git) and agile development methodologies.
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills, with a test-driven development (TDD) mindset.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • US-based, EST/CST time zones preferred.
Nice to Have
  • Experience with React Native or mobile app development.
  • Knowledge of web security best practices (authentication, authorization, data protection).
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment and manage multiple projects.
  • Based in Raleigh or Dallas (preferred but not required).

  • the individual's skill sets, experience and training;
  • licensure and certification requirements;
  • office location and other geographic considerations;

With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range referenced above reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
