Job Summary:

The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for overseeing a wide variety of material department activities including procurement, demand planning, shipping and receiving raw materials and/or finished goods and maintaining inventory and associated records. People management responsibilities include hiring and training, planning, and assigning daily work, conducting performance appraisals, addressing performance issues, and resolving problems.

Essential Functions of the Job:



  • Supervise and assist in daily material department including:


    • Filling and shipping customer orders
    • Satisfying internal shipping requirements (technical service, vendors, etc.)
    • Ensuring accuracy of shipments and supporting documentation
    • Receiving incoming material and routing to appropriate area or personnel
    • Filling work orders from production
    • Packaging assemblies and receiving into finished goods
    • Ensuring inventory transactions are accurately logged
    • Overseeing cycle counts and reconciliation activities
    • Procurement activates
    • Plant demand planning
    • Arranging transfers to and from external warehouses


  • Supervise CDL drivers, maintain records of tractors and trailers
  • Measuring and reporting the effectiveness of the department activities.
  • Developing and maintaining departmental work instructions for all tasks.
  • Establishing or adjusting work procedures to meet warehouse demands as dictated by production schedules and workflow.
  • Interpreting company policies to workers and enforcing safety regulations.
  • Recommending measures to improve quality of service, increasing efficiency of department and work crew and equipment performance.
  • Continuously improve warehouse operations through the use of lean enterprise practices.
  • Conferring with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments and serving internal customers.
  • Assists with inventory control levels by conducting physical counts, reconciling with data storage system.
  • Maintains physical condition of warehouse by planning and implementing new design layouts; inspecting equipment; issuing work orders for repair and requisitions for replacement.
  • Ensures effective safety procedures, tools and record keeping are managed through site leadership.
  • Adheres to company GMP's (good manufacturing practices), safety procedures and all other quality processes.
  • Wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) when required.
  • All other duties, as assigned.


Supervisory Responsibilities:



  • Material Department Employees
  • CDL Drivers


Minimum Qualifications:



  • Associates Degree in Business or related field.
  • Three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Forklift experience.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Food industry and/or manufacturing industry experience.
  • Oracle experience.


Knowledge and Skills:



  • Previous experience in cycle counting and Inventory a plus
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to make calculations such as discounts, freight estimates, dimensional weight, invoices, and percentages.
  • Knowledge of general business and computer software.
  • Aptitude to learn new software applications.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).


Additional Considerations:



  • Travel Expectations: Up to 5%.
  • Location: This role will be at the new SunOpta Plant in Midlothian, TX.
  • Work Environment: Approximately 50% of this role will be performed in an office environment; approximately 50% may be in an agricultural and/or production environment.
  • Relocation or international remote working arrangements (outside of the US) will not be considered.
