Operates a motor grader for road construction which consists of the leveling and grading of fill, excavation of streets and dirt roads, and may include the stripping of asphalt. Operates a payloader for loading and unloading materials onto and off of trucks, such as hot and cold asphalt, sand, gravel, road maintenance material, fill, and landfill. Lubricates, adjusts, maintains and makes minor repairs to equipment used in motor grader operations. May operate other heavy-duty equipment for snow removal or for emergency situations. Keeps job and other records.

Minimum Qualifications

Qualification Requirements

Three years of full-time satisfactory experience acquired within the last ten years as a motor grader operator or a payloader operator.

License Requirements

Candidates must possess a Class B Commercial Driver License, with no restrictions, valid in the State of New York. This license must be maintained for the duration of employment.

Residency Requirement

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
