JOB SUMMARY

The Sr. Manager of Medical Communications and Excellence at Emergent is tasked with a multifaceted role that bridges the operational and strategic elements within Global Medical Affairs. On the operational side, this individual is responsible for leading the Medical Information department, ensuring that FAQs and SRLs are accurately maintained, and that medical training programs, such as onboarding and continuous field training, are effectively implemented. A significant part of this role includes the meticulous development, review, and enforcement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), as well as refining processes to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.

In parallel, the position demands strategic involvement in Medical Communications, where the Sr. Manager contributes to the planning and execution of communication strategies. This includes the management of tactical plans, vigilant monitoring of scientific literature to keep abreast of the latest developments, and the provision of support for key congress activities. The role is also instrumental in the creation and periodic updating of MSL materials, internal educational tools, and foundational communication documents such as scientific platforms and lexica, ensuring that all content is organized and readily accessible.

Crucial to the role is the ability to maintain order and structure in all documents and communications, facilitating efficient information retrieval and knowledge sharing within the organization. The individual in this role reports directly to the Sr. Director, Global Medical Communications and Excellence, and is a cornerstone in upholding the standards of medical excellence and communication integrity at Emergent.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Responsibilities:

* Lead daily Medical Information operations, including interaction with third-party call center vendors, troubleshooting, organizing repository and trainings, and aligning strategy with cross-functional team members.

* Support Global Medical Affairs (GMA) processes such as Medical Review Committee, Grant Review Committees, and therapeutic area-specific Literature Monitoring.

* Track and ensure timely updates and renewals of SOPs and Veeva documents (e.g., SRDs, FAQs, field decks).

* Coordinate with internal teams to maintain compliance with SOPs and meet stakeholder requirements.

* Oversee Medical Information vendor service procurement, vendor management, and budget oversight.

* Manage contracts for contractors and consultants and use technology to enhance the budgeting process.

* Provide operational support for external request systems and databases, including administrative tasks and training for Medical Affairs users and external partners.

* Offer logistical support for congresses and Medical Affairs team meetings as applicable.

* Manage the development of assigned tactics in the Medical Communications plan and support the creation of additional tactics.

* Develop and support educational materials for internal, external, and field medical affairs personnel, including staffing congress booths when necessary.

* Assist in the development and implementation of internal SOPs for compliant medical communications and publication material.

* Review internal materials for medical and scientific accuracy.

* Collaborate with the Med Affairs Operations team to develop and manage an updated Medical Information process for the respective therapeutic area.

* Employ strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate in a cross-functional team environment.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS

* Terminal degree required (MSc, PharmD, PhD).

* 2 years of working experience within the pharmaceutical industry, preferably in medical information, or at least 5 years working in a Medical Affairs/Medical Information related agency or vendor.

* 2 years of professional experience in Medical Affairs/Medical Information and prior Medical Information call center experience is preferred.

* Prior experience in digital systems, IRMS, Veeva CRM, Veeva Vault, and/or Veeva Med Comms is preferred.

* Experience with SOP creation and approval processes, including drafting, reviewing, compliance, and lifecycle management, is required.

* Prior experience working with third-party call centers, preferred.

* Prior experience in training/teaching is preferred.

* An established track record of facilitating effective high-quality medical communications.

* Strong scientific acumen with the ability to translate and effectively communicate complex scientific data for varying audiences.

* Strong project management skills with a proven track record to deliver multiple projects in time and excellent quality.

* Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Visio, and PM tools (Smartsheets, Projects), preferred.

* Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.

U.S. Base Pay Ranges and Benefits Information

The estimated annual base salary as a new hire for this position ranges from $155,500 to $188,200. Individual base pay depends on various factors such as applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location. Certain roles are eligible for additional incentive compensation, including merit increases, annual bonus, [and/or long-term incentives in the form of stock options.]
