DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position provides administrative and clerical support to the nursing staff at the Southwestern Veterans' Center and is responsible for coordinating and maintaining daily appointment schedules, create reports as directed for nursing department, maintain nursing files, and communicate with other departments on nursing business. The candidate will also be creating the staffing schedule for a 236-bed nursing facility. A good working knowledge of Excel and other software programs to manage digital filing systems and calendars is required. Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills in order to type clear and concise documents such as memos, emails and invoices and be able to communicate with employees, residents, family members, and other business contacts. This position will work closely with Nursing Management to organize and provide high quality services to our Veteran population.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
- Work hours are 8:00am to 4:00pm, Monday thru Friday with a 30-minute lunch.
- Hours may change based on operational needs.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $35,306 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Graduation from high school; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements:
- Two (2) years or more of experience with the Microsoft systems (Word/Excel/Outlook, etc.) and other software packages.
- Ability to work with various office equipment such as: scanner, printer, fax machine, computer, tablet, telephone, personal communication devices etc.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Previous experience completing a nurse staffing schedule.
- Previous experience meeting Department of Health regulations for staffing to PPD (Patient Per Day) staffing ratios.
- Previous experience using a scheduling software program.
