QA Optical Lab Tech - Full time - Oak Park

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Utilizes advanced optical knowledge and deep understanding of American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and ISO standards to inspect, audit, and review product and processes related the manufacturing environment within the Optical Lab.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Performs the final inspection of eyeglasses before shipment

* Audits eyeglass components along several stages of the manufacturing process

* Participates in process continuous improvement efforts and monitors effectiveness of processes

* Drives a culture of accountability and ownership

* Assists in the development and clarification of process specifications

* Works with staff to determine, troubleshoot, and correct operational errors.

* Uses Laboratory Management System and Enterprise Resource Program (ERP) to report and document metrics for department performance (i.e., losses, yields, productivity, etc.)

* Analyzes qualitative, statistical, and quantitative data

* Monitors and evaluate the effectiveness of quality control systems

* Maintain quality metrics and reports

* Participates in investigations into quality issues

* Remain up to date with industry developments and best practices in quality control.

* Improves job knowledge by attending training and keeping relevant knowledge and skills current

* Demonstrates organizational skills

* Follows system and safety protocols outlined in 6S procedures

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

* Requires high school diploma or GED. Associates degree preferred.

* Optical Licensure or American Board of Opticianry certification strongly preferred

* Requires strong background in quality control with optical ANSI and ISO standards knowledge

* Requires exceptional problem-solving skills

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:

* Must meet or exceed core customer service responsibilities, standards and behaviors as

* outlined in the Henry Ford Health Customer Service Policy

* Must practice the customer skills as provided through on-going training and in-services

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

* Requires the ability walk and stand for extended periods of time in a climate controlled manufacturing plant.

* Requires occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
