The University of Missouri School of Medcine Department of Surgery Job Description
The Department of Surgery is seeking a highly motivated individual to provide high-level administrative assistance to the Chair of the Department of Surgery and Senior Director of Operations. Duties will be performed independently and with minimal supervision and include: Scheduling appointments and drafting correspondence on behalf of the Senior Director of Operations. Answer telephone calls, review correspondence, and respond to inquiries on behalf of the Department Chair. This requires excellent written and verbal communication skills. Interface with Department Faculty, Staff, Resident Physicians, and officials from the University, School of Medicine and other Departments requesting time or information from the Department Chair. Coordinate annual faculty evaluations. Track Department Chair's continuing medical education, credentialing, licensure renewal, and curriculum vitae maintenance. Drafts complex forms, memos, letters, and presentations for internal and external recipients; proofreads drafts to correct grammar, spelling, and formatting. Drafts meeting agendas, attends meetings, and drafts minutes. Coordinate, prepare and distribute Departmental newsletter. Coordinate Department of Surgery Grand Rounds lectures, including CME applications and reports, coordination of speaker travel and reimbursement of expenses. Coordinates department events (holiday party, faculty retreat, faculty recognition banquet, etc.) within budget and with committee input. Occasional flexible schedule outside of Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m is expected. Shift
Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary. Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with Microsoft programs, including Outlook, Word and Excel, data visualization, and PowerPoint. One year of related experience in business administration, personnel administration, or higher education administration. Anticipated Hiring Range
Hiring Range: $16.92 to $30.68 Application Materials
