JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State Abington's Division of Social Sciences, Psychological and Social Sciences program, invites applications for an adjunct instructor of Psychology to teach PSYCH 100: Introduction to Psychologyto begin in August 2025.

Job Duties
  • Candidates must be able to teach this introductory course in psychology and classes are in-person only for this appointment. Classes will be taught at AIM Academy. AIM Academy is a coeducational, independent school for bright children with language-based learning disabilities located in Conshohocken, PA just outside of Philadelphia, PA.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Candidates should have a master's and/or doctoral degree in Psychology or a related field.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching high school students is highly desirable.
  • Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to helping all students succeed through engagement in and out of the classroom.
  • Employment with the University for this job will require successful completion of the Pennsylvania (PA) Publicly Available Clearances: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, and the PA Department of Human Services FBI Criminal History Background Check.

This class will be taught as part of a partnership program between AIM Academy and Penn State Abington. High school students from AIM Academy will be taking the course through dual enrollment with the university. The Abington College of Pennsylvania State University is a four-year college with a diverse population of 4,000 students in the suburb of Abington, Pennsylvania. While maintaining a close-knit academic community atmosphere typical of a small liberal arts college, Abington offers its students and faculty all of the resources of a major research university.
