Description of primary duties and responsibilities:
Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit:
The FSU Human Resources Office provides comprehensive programs and services to attract, support and retain high performing faculty and staff at the University and develop a workforce that efficiently serves the University in support of its mission. The Human Resources department partners with university stakeholders in proactively assisting them in achieving their short and long- term goals and objectives. This is accomplished by implementing best practices to support vice chancellors, deans, directors, department heads, staff, faculty and supervisors in the areas of:

* Leave Administration
* Human Resources Information Systems
* Employee Relations

Description of Work Continued:
Primary Purpose of the Position:
The primary purpose of this position will be to provide program support to the employment unit. The Human Resources Specialist for Employment reports to the Human Resources Consultant-for Employment and will provide general Human Resources administrative duties, department records and files maintenance, contract files, assists employees, applicants and managers regarding employment services. This position requires detail to work and the ability to complete actions with minimal error and within tight deadline.
This position's primary area of concentration is to support the employment function within the office of Human Resources. The HR specialist will process daily HR actions for SHRA, EHRA, temporary and student employment. This position will support the employment unit in conducting orientation and onboarding of new hires, will be responsible for preparing orientation materials, this position will complete intake and process all new hire documents to include I-9 verification and new hire paperwork. This position will assist hiring managers with the use of the PeopleAdmin applicant tracking system and provide technical assistance to applicants. The HR specialist will serve as backup to receptionist to the Human Resources department as needed. The specialist will apply Federal, State and University guidelines when Human Resources and the HR Consultant.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Graduation from a four year college or university; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Knowledge skills and abilities:
Applied Knowledge - Ability to process daily HR actions and requests according to appropriate State, federal and client policies and procedures. Refers non-routine issues and problems to higher-level HR staff or supervisor.
Information/Records Administration- Explains and demonstrates for clients how to use software, databases and related HR forms and tools.
Information/Records Administration- Gathers routine information and compiles standard reports based on specific requests.
Program Administration- Completes daily work to meet established deadlines and client needs.
Communication Written/Verbal- Communicates by email, letter, or memoranda to request information needed to process HR transactions or to report factual information regarding actions. Documents actions as requested or according to guidelines. Some or all communication may require review by a higher level HR staff member or supervisor.
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous employment experience
  • Familiarity with I-9 requirements and compliance

  • HRIS/Applicant Tracking system experience.
