This position requires applicants to be Bilingual in English and Spanish. Please only apply if you are fully bilingual (able to read, write, and speak) in both languages.

Under the supervision of the Dean of the Community Education Division or designee to teach basic Communication courses levels 1-6, to teach GED classes in an accelerated GED program.

Desire outcome of these classes: Students are seeking a HSED ( High School Equivalency Diploma) or GED ( A certificate of General Education Development).
Grade Level Ranges: students are middle to secondary academic levels

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare for and deliver instruction and perform teaching-related activities.
  • Manage the classroom/laboratory.
  • Develop curriculum and monitor and revise as appropriate to maintain course effectiveness; assist in program evaluation.
  • Manage equipment, supplies and materials.
  • Assess student performance and advise students on academic issues.
  • Collaborate with the advisory committee in the program area.
  • Attend departmental and institutional meetings.
  • Promote the education/training program, participate in efforts to recruit and retain students, and participate in efforts to market MATC.
  • Support student organizations and activities.
  • Develop relationships with business and industry.
  • Complete program evaluation and follow-up.
  • Maintain certification, continue professional development and stay current in the field.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Only those who meet all of the base minimum requirements listed below will be considered.

Minimum Educational Requirements: Must have at least ONE of the following:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mathematics OR
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in any field with at least 18 coursework credits(undergraduate or graduate level) in Mathematics including:
    • At least 12 credits at the 200 level or higher. Course subjects include but are not limited to: Calculus 1, 2, & 3; Differential Equations, The Teaching of Mathematics, History of Mathematics, Number Theory, Abstract Algebra, Complex Numbers, Topology, Combinatorics, Theory of Probability, Statistical Mathematics, and other related MATH courses.
    • AND a minimum of six (6) credits at the 100 undergraduate level Math, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, or Finance. Course subjects include but are not limited to: Logic & Problem Solving, Geometry, Elementary Stats, College Algebra, Discrete Mathematics, Trigonometry, and Pre-Calculus.
Minimum Occupational Experience Requirement:
  • At least one (1 total year or two full time semesters of teaching experience within any combination of elementary, secondary, or post-secondary education.
Language Requirement:
  • Bilingual fluency (Spanish/English) able to read, write, and speak, in both languages.

  • Online Information Management Systems - Experience with Self-Service or other online information management systems used for student advising, student programs, grading, class schedules and rosters
  • Blackboard Ultra - Experience with Blackboard or other web-based course - management systems
  • Technology-based Instruction - Experience with technology-based instructional delivery systems including SMART symposium, interactive touch screen monitors, LCD projectors, DVD players and/or other classroom technology
  • Emerging Technologies - Experience with emerging technologies (eg. social networking applications)

Supplemental Information

Start Date: This position supports the Community Education Division and is available to start teaching in our Fall 2025 semester; approximately mid-August.

Hours/Location: This position is up to a .5 FTE; the number of hours worked per week will vary. Course load, location of teaching, and hours worked are based on enrollment and departmental need.

Modality: IN PERSON
Employees will conduct all work hours in the State of Wisconsin, performing work outside the state is strictly prohibited.

Salary: Beginning in the fall of 2024 the starting hourly wage for all part-time faculty is $40 per course hour of teaching. Part-time faculty are also compensated for an additional 45 minutes of time for each hour of instruction to cover office hours and prep time which is equivalent to $70 per hour. This starting hourly wage of $40 an hour is non-negotiable unless market conditions dictate otherwise.
