SUMMARY The Corporate HR Generalist supports the Human Resources department in the following areas: HRIS, payroll, benefits, recruiting, and employee relations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Promotes proactive approaches using the HRIS system to solve business needs/problems. Works with HR staff in the field on best practices for HRIS reporting
- Serves as primary backup for payroll. Helps payroll manger process weekly and biweekly payrolls
- Writes, maintains, and supports a variety of reports or queries utilizing appropriate reporting tools. Assists in the development of standard reports for ongoing customer needs
- Maintains necessary files covering applications, interviews, and testing procedures. Maintains records in accordance with record retention policy
- Ensures that interviewing, testing, and hiring processes adhere to all equal employment opportunity (EEO) legislation, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and other government compliance requirements
- Develops recruitment and placement policies, systems, and procedures, including strategies and selection techniques. Reviews and approves all employment advertisements. Negotiates employment fee structure with placement agencies
- Acts as liaison in representing the company and provides information on the company, its policies, benefits, and descriptions of job opportunities and accompanying compensation schedules.
- Helps establish policies that seek to increase retention rates and foster employee job satisfaction and high morale
- Oversees and conducts orientation covering company policies, benefits, emergency plans, and all basic training for new employees with the help of managers and supervisors
- Maintains and provides current information on all company benefits.
- Ensures that employees are kept aware of any employee benefit program changes on a continuing basis.
- Provides terminated employees with benefits information including COBRA information
- Maintains employment resumes & application forms in line with company policy.
- Handles paperwork at termination, including unemployment insurance claims and reports any disputed claims to the Human Resources Manager.
- Files workers' compensation reports and follows up on progress of workers who are on disability or restricted duty.
- Ensures that rules concerning confidentiality and retention are followed.
- Maintains bulletin boards in an up-to-date and legal compliance manner
- Assists with job analyses and revisions to job descriptions
- Oversees training and safety programs in context of compliance with government regulation
- Coordinates and participates in diversity and sexual harassment awareness, and other related training to protect the employees and the company
- Acts as central coordinator for training activities, such as lectures, classes, seminars, conferences, and schools
- Coordinates special meetings of employees and training classes, as requested by management, to ensure that each employee is kept current and informed on changes in company policy and procedures
- Answers routine inquiries from inside and outside the company on employment verifications and benefits claims processing in line with written company policy on these matters
- Works with managers and supervisors in coordinating individual employee leave requests and employee vacations
- Acts as coordinator for the employee suggestion program and as coordinator for the employee picnic and parties and other employee functions. Ensures that employees are encouraged to participate in the suggestion program and all other employee functions
- Keeps abreast of legislation affecting Human Resources in our state to ensure compliance.
- Updates and provides daily, weekly, monthly reports as assigned.
- Assists with a variety of projects as requested.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Payroll/HRIS experience with ADP products
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Background in employment law and other government compliance regulations is preferred
- Ability to research and analyze various types of data information
- Must have the ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues, by using judgment that is consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, and government regulations.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources preferred and/or 5+ years of experience
- The military equivalent will be recognized in lieu of education and/or experience.
